    Called to Serve First

    A while ago, we had a meaningful conversation about waiting for God’s perfect time especially for the right person to marry. We had the chance to talk about it and also share what God is currently doing in my life. I testified that God’s time is the best time. As for me, I realize how God loves me and how He is using me in the ministry. I am blessed that He has chosen me to serve wholeheartedly. When asked why I do not have a partner yet, or anyone special in particular, I just smiled and said,

    “Ang dami pang pinapagawa sa akin ng Diyos.”

    This is very true. I am enjoying God’s gift of singlehood because I believe that my Father in Heaven is preparing the best for me. I wanted to be like Rebekkah - an answered prayer to the man whom I will marry someday. I am doing what the Lord has told me to do. I am doing what God wants me to do. That is to serve Him and to glorify Him in my life.

    A godly man’s love is good but GOD’s love is the best!

    A Woman’s Question

    Do you know you have asked for the costliest thing
    Ever made by the Hand above?
    A woman’s heart, and a woman’s life—-
    And a woman’s wonderful love.

    Do you know you have asked for this priceless thing
    As a child might ask for a toy?
    Demanding what others have died to win,
    With a reckless dash of boy.

    You have written my lesson of duty out,
    Manlike, you have questioned me.
    Now stand at the bars of my woman’s soul
    Until I shall question thee.

    You require your mutton shall always be hot,
    Your socks and your shirt be whole;
    I require your heart be true as God’s stars
    And as pure as His heaven your soul.

    You require a cook for your mutton and beef,
    I require a far greater thing;
    A seamstress you’re wanting for socks and shirts—-
    I look for a man and a king.

    A king for the beautiful realm called Home,
    And a man that his Maker, God,
    Shall look upon as He did on the first
    And say: “It is very good.”

    I am fair and young, but the rose may fade
    From this soft young cheek one day;
    Will you love me then ‘mid the falling leaves,
    As you did ‘mong the blossoms of May?

    Is your heart an ocean so strong and true,
    I may launch my all on its tide?
    A loving woman finds heaven or hell
    On the day she is made a bride.

    I require all things that are grand and true,
    All things that a man should be;
    If you give this all, I would stake my life
    To be all you demand of me.

    If you cannot be this, a laundress and cook
    You can hire and little to pay;
    But a woman’s heart and a woman’s life
    Are not to be won that way.

    The world takes us to a silver screen on which flickering images of passion and romance play, and as we watch, the world says, “This is love.” God takes us to the foot of a tree on which a naked and bloodied man hangs and says, “This is love.”

    “To love God is to love His will. It is to wait quietly for life to be measured by One who knows us through and through. It is to be content with His timing and His wise appointment.”

    “Restlessness and impatience change nothing except our peace and joy. Peace does not dwell in outward things, but in the heart prepared to wait trustfully and quietly on Him who has all things safely in His hands.”

    Sometime by May Riley Smith

    Sometime, when all life’s lessons have been learned,
    And sun and stars forevermore have set
    The things which our weak judgments here have spurned,
    The things overwhich we grieved with lashes wet.
    Will flash before us out of life’s dark night.
    As stars shine most in deeper tints of blue,
    And we shall see how all God’s plans are right,
    And how what seemed reproof was love most true,
    Then be content poor heart;
    God’s plans, like lilies pure and white, unfold;
    We must not tear the close shut leaves apart,
    Time will reveal the chalices of gold..
    And if, through patient toil, we reach the land
    Where tired feet, with sandals loosed, may rest,
    When we shall clearly see and understand,
    I think that we will say, “God knew the best!”

    Jeremiah 10:3-16

    3 For the practices of the peoples are worthless;

       they cut a tree out of the forest,

       and a craftsman shapes it with his chisel.

    4 They adorn it with silver and gold;

       they fasten it with hammer and nails

       so it will not totter.

    5 Like a scarecrow in a cucumber field,

       their idols cannot speak;

    they must be carried

       because they cannot walk.

    Do not fear them;

       they can do no harm

       nor can they do any good.”

     6 No one is like you, LORD;

       you are great,

       and your name is mighty in power.

    7 Who should not fear you,

       King of the nations?

       This is your due.

    Among all the wise leaders of the nations

       and in all their kingdoms,

       there is no one like you.

     8 They are all senseless and foolish;

       they are taught by worthless wooden idols.

    9 Hammered silver is brought from Tarshish

       and gold from Uphaz.

    What the craftsman and goldsmith have made

       is then dressed in blue and purple—

       all made by skilled workers.

    10 But the LORD is the true God;

       he is the living God, the eternal King.

    When he is angry, the earth trembles;

       the nations cannot endure his wrath.

     11 “Tell them this: ‘These gods, who did not make the heavens and the earth, will perish from the earth and from under the heavens.’”[a]

     12 But God made the earth by his power;

       he founded the world by his wisdom

       and stretched out the heavens by his understanding.

    13 When he thunders, the waters in the heavens roar;

       he makes clouds rise from the ends of the earth.

    He sends lightning with the rain

       and brings out the wind from his storehouses.

     14 Everyone is senseless and without knowledge;

       every goldsmith is shamed by his idols.

    The images he makes are a fraud;

       they have no breath in them.

    15 They are worthless, the objects of mockery;

       when their judgment comes, they will perish.

    16 He who is the Portion of Jacob is not like these,

       for he is the Maker of all things,

    including Israel, the people of his inheritance—

       the LORD Almighty is his name.
